Kiwi’s Critter Care is named in memory and honor of my sister-in-law Kiri, aka “Kiwi”.
Kiri Rowe-Hawthorne was born on September 5th, 1990, in Seminole, Florida. However, she spent most of her life in St. Petersburg, Florida.
When my brother-in-law Dan first began dating Kiri, her and I had an immediate connection through our shared passion for animals, as well as our past experiences working in the veterinary field. Kiri’s love for animals led her to start her own business in pet care. She had just launched her own pet sitting business, when she passed suddenly and unexpectedly at the young age of 31, on her anniversary, June 11th, 2022.
Kiri aka “Kiwi” was an avid dancer, lover of the arts, lover of nature, and an adorable bookworm. Kiri’s energy and spirit was contagious. She radiated warmth, joy, and peace. When I decided to follow in her footsteps and pursue her dreams of starting my own pet care business, I knew immediately that I wanted to name it in memory of her. Every dog walk I go on, I feel her alongside me. When I look into the eyes of all the animals I meet and care for, I feel her presence.
Her passing has left a void in so many lives, but we will continue to carry the memory of her wherever we go.
